Song Premiere: Don Gallardo "Stay Awhile"

Recently named an “Artist You Need To Know” by Rolling Stone, Don Gallardo’s musical and personal journey is illuminated on his newest album, Still Here, due April 27th. With music that walks the line between Americana, folk, and roots-rock, Gallardo mines the influence of classic 1970's singer-songwriters while pushing toward something new. On songs such as the honky-tonk flavored “The Bitter End” to the introspective “Something I Gotta Learn,” and the song of farewell, “Ballad Of A Stranger’s Heart,” the twelve-track collection, united around the sentiment of persistence, asserts lessons learned with honesty, sensitivity, and wisdom.

Today, TDC is pleased to share one of the album’s cuts, “Stay Awhile.” Penned by Gallardo and David Borne, “Stay Awhile’s” New Orleans style melody, led by clarinet and piano, sashays along freely as Gallardo’s warmhearted vocals muse on finding peace and something to love right where you are.

"You didn’t need to venture too far
To finally find your bed of stars
Satellites dancing around in your head
The signal is clear, you ain’t going nowhere"

Gallardo relays the story behind the track,
“I wrote this song with David Borné. We were discussing the influx of people moving into Nashville the past few years. One common theme we had both realized was that we would keep hearing people who did not like the growth and were not subtle about bashing all the people moving here. A few people we knew had gone to the extreme to move out of Nashville but only to move back a year later. We all have a choice in what we do. If you don’t like your situation, an easy fix is to try just hanging out in a different part of town. Or making some new friends.”

Joel Levi Asks“Will We Ever Change? on New Single

2/28/2018

NASHVILLE (February 27, 2018 Press Release) - The new Americana single from Joel Levi, “Will We Ever Change?” is a raw and honest glimpse behind the curtain of a marital dispute. Both haunting and cathartic, the music’s sonic elements wash over the soundscape like a warm and cleaning rain. A harmonica aches against an ethereal background as each melodic piece writes the words of a new chapter. It is the first single off Levi’s upcoming self-titled album, due out May 4.

“Will We Ever Change?” begs a loaded question that many have encountered in their lifetime. Through the dense layering of Levi’s vocals and lush guitar leads, the single is a sepia-toned snapshot of heated arguments, stubborn feelings, and necessary resolution. Throughout the song duration, Levi writes a first-hand account without any fear of vulnerability. Each time the chorus comes crashing in, the tension rises as if we were in the same stormy room as the impassioned couple. Chaotic, yet filled with soothing purpose, “Will We Ever Change?” follows a real relationship and punctuates the biggest truth...life happens, but you can’t run away from those problems.

February 28, 2018
(Press Release) - Maine-based southern-infused rockers The Mallett Brothers Band have officially announced their forthcoming LP, Vive L’Acadie! The band has shared the album's video for its lead single at Relix.

Buried deep underneath blankets of wooly southern rock, gritty songwriting and soaring odes to lost love, The Mallett Brothers are entrenched in the dense forests, majestic mountains and icy beaches of their Maine homeland. Their rock ‘n roll resides inside of a weathered and lived-in, rootsy Americana built by brothers Luke and Will Mallett and band. It's that distinctive sound that's helped them to share stages with both critical favorites like Drive-By Truckers, Shovels and Rope & The Felice Brothers and legends like Phish drummer and singer Jon Fishman (who will be hopping aboard the band’s spring tour this year), The Allman Brothers, and many more. Their new album, Vive L’Acadie (out June 15), is an ode to all things French-Canadian.

“Vive L’Acadie," the title track, came out of a David Lynchian trip the band made to Fort Kent, Maine. "We were driving down the road on Main Street," says Luke. "We turned on the radio and it was playing all these French versions of pop-country songs. It felt like we were in a different world. Later that night, an old man in a bar was yelling "Vive L’Acadie". Turns out, that’s the Acadian battle cry! The Acadians wound up being Cajun, but they're a French, Canadian and Irish mix of people that ended up in the woods up north. Their influence is all over Maine. Our grandfather came from Salmon River, Nova Scotia. If you go back up there, there’s a whole cemetery full of Malletts.”

Americana Pioneers 6 String Drag return with new album, Top of the World

Blurt premiered a track: http://bit.ly/2BvftAG

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Press Release) — “There was a feeling back then of promise and that you might actually make a living at music someday. I’m not sure if 6 String Drag ever expected to play any stadiums, but we thought me might make a living in an NRBQ kind of way.” — Kenny Roby, frontman for the band.

When 6 String Drag first appeared on the scene in 1993, the Americana scene was still in its infancy. As one of the earliest alt-country bands of the era — a point in time at which Uncle Tupelo was winding down, Whiskeytown hadn’t yet formed, and scene bible No Depression was still a couple of years away from launching — the quartet, headed up by vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Roby and bassist Rob Keller, played a major role in eventually making the term “Americana” part of the musical lexicon. Now, with the impending arrival of a new album titled Top of the World, 6 String Drag broadens its collective purview, incorporating classic British Invasion pop, tough-as-nails ’70s rock and punk, and more. The album, due out March 9, 2018, will be available on digital, CD and vinyl

Jacob Bryant's Powerful "Pour Whiskey On My Grave" Video Views Pass 3 MILLION Mark

Nashville, TN (February 19, 2018 Press Release) - Jacob Bryant's powerful companion video to his current single, "Pour Whiskey On My Grave," has garnered over THREE MILLION views, and generated more than 90,000 shares from his Facebook page. Released to his fans on February 2 exclusively on the social media platform, the clip can now also be viewed on YouTube, where clicks continue to rise.

A fatalistic, spit-in-your-face look at death, the opening overhead shots of bikers riding a lonesome two-lane highway spins the story up.  From bar to barnyard, Bryant's lanky presence is front and center; captivating and cajoling.  Shot entirely in black and white, the piece is arresting - filled with a crash and burn energy.  As Jacob says, "We live and we die; death is very black and white.  And I wanted that reflected in the visuals."  Filmed near Jacob's hometown of Jasper, Georgia, characters include a bad-a** preacher, loose women and drinking buddies, all portrayed by Bryant's real-life friends and family members in all their outlaw glory.  Chris St. Croix (commercials for Vizio, Wall Street Journal, Yazoo Beer; short films Dirty Little Secrets, Last Words, and full-length feature In the Dark) directed.

Huntington Beach, CA - February 23, 2018 (Press Release) - David Rosales has announced the release of his first full-length album, Brave Ones, due out April 27, 2018. The singer-songwriter returns with his rich baritone vocal and hopeful melodies that create a perfect blend of authentic country, folk, blues and rock.

On the album, Rosales shares, "It's 11 songs of love, loss, adversity and triumph. I get into some pretty heavy subjects, but overall, the album has a positive vibe. It's uplifting and makes me feel better after I listen to it...I'm hopeful it does the same for the listener."

The 11-track album was co-produced by Matt Grundy (Donavon Frankenreiter) and Rosales himself. The team took to recording in the wind-swept Southern California High Desert region inside an isolated log cabin dubbed, Super Bloom Studios. The album clearly displays Rosales' diverse songwriting prowess, as he seamlessly blends his vintage sonic taste with fresh vision, channeling inspirations such as Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash, Ryan Adams and Nathaniel Rateliff.
