Charlie Overbey Announces New Album, Broken Arrow, Shares "Outlaws"

2/9/2018

Los Angeles-based country rocker Charlie Overbey has announced his latest LP, Broken Arrow, and recently shared the lead single "Outlaws" at Cowboys & Indians Magazine, who praised the song--which features contributions from the Mastersons--as "country folk rock that packs a gritty emotional punch."

Cowboys & Indians also lauded Overbey's "flair for the Western lifestyle" in mentioning Lone Hawk Hats, Overbey's vintage-inspired headwear project dedicated to hand-formed, one-of-a-kind hats crafted in the style of the old west.

As the album title suggests, an existential darkness permeates Broken Arrow. It is the work of a road-savvy rock & roll veteran who sees the world as it is, fully grasping the jagged pain of life. But this darkness isn’t a dead end—Overbey’s songs are shot through with enough hard-fought resilience, determination and optimism to remind listeners the only way out is forward, and that the wild ride of life is a mysterious and beautiful gift. Broken Arrow is out April 20th.

John Craigie Announces New Live Album 'Opening For Steinbeck'

With the clarity of vision of a millenial, the old soul of a troubadour, and the timing of a stand-up comedian, John Craigie’s live shows have his rapidly growing audiences hanging on every word. The humor that runs throughout his songs and the narratives that accompany them touch on embarrassing iPhone photos, Election Night 2016, and “pants” vs “trousers,” all presented with self deprecating wit.

Documenting a pair of sold out performances at Mississippi Studios and The Doug Fir late last year, the Portland, OR based Craigie will take the unique step of issuing a second live album in his relatively young career with the release of LIVE - Opening For Steinbeck (out March 16). With wry observational humor interwoven in both story and song, the album is an ideal introduction to an artist doing something that’s simultaneously old and brand new.

(Press Release) Singer/songwriter Leah James will release her solo debut album While She Sleeps on March 30th. The daughter of renowned Eagles guitarist Don Felder, James steps out on her own for the first time, writing, recording, and producing the album solely by herself. The result is a sweeping indie-folk record, decorated with symphonic strings, tenor guitar, piano, and the soft swoon of Leah's voice. Today, she releases her new single called "Love Me With Madness," an elegant pop-noire inspired by loss and longing.

Listen to "Love Me With Madness" HERE.

"Unlike most of the songs I write, 'Love Me With Madness' was composed in the duration of about 10 minutes," stated James. "At the moment of conception, the lyric and chord progression quickly assembled like powerful magnets merging together almost instantaneously, and like a shot in the air...BANG! I had a song. While I don’t intend to divulge a detailed meaning behind this song, I will confess it’s nature is one of deep longing for someone I had lost at a young age...and when I close my eyes and listen to this composition, it is as if I can almost feel that person close again. I am proud of this particular piece of work and very much look forward to sending it on it’s way, off into the world."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Press Release) — Singer/songwriter Steve Moakler is back in the studio working on the follow-up to his 2017 album, Steel Town, written with his hometown of Pittsburgh in mind. Naturally, a year on the road promoting that album led the Country artist to his transit-inspired, fifth studio effort, the aptly titled Born Ready, expected for release later this year. Rolling Stone Countrybroke the news yesterday of the title track’s release, saying “dedicated to those who roll up their sleeves and grind the gears, the Springsteen-esque anthem is propelled by chugging guitars, pounding drums and some self-assured vocals from Moakler.” Moakler’s self-proclaimed “highway anthem” is the first taste of what’s to come and available at all digital partners today HERE.

“‘Born Ready’ is about believing that you’re built to handle the road you’re on,” explains Moakler.  “I started writing this song with truck drivers in mind, but quickly realized that I was telling my own story too. Whether your job has you behind the steering wheel or not, I think the road is a perfect metaphor for life. It’s about closing the distance between where you are and where you want to be. I hope the song inspires people to hang tough and to not turn around. That’s what it does for me.”

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Press Release) — The Rev. Gary Davis, born in 1896 in the Piedmont region of Laurens, S.C., was a blues and gospel singer who played guitar, banjo, and harmonica and influenced a generation of blues revivalists in the ’60s and beyond — ranging from Dave Van Ronk to Keb’ Mo’. Following decades of playing the Carolinas and mentoring fellow musician Blind Boy Fuller, Davis was introduced to the American Recording Company, where he recorded the bulk of his pre-World War II work. In 1937, he became an ordained minister and released mainly gospel music. The late ’60s proved a career renaissance for the Reverend; he played to a new, largely white audience at the Newport Folk Festival. He died in 1972.

First Season Of The Customized Collection Available at National Retailers Including Buckle, Von Maur and Dillard’s This Month

NASHVILLE, TN - Feb. 8, 2018 (Press Release) - Singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley has partnered with Flag & Anthem to create an exclusive new lifestyle collection, Desert Son, launching this month. With its name inspired by some of the more autobiographical lyrics off his upcoming ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN, the initial Spring offering will feature primarily men’s items including vintage-washed tees, raglans, hoodies and hats along with a handful of women’s tees. Desert Son will continue to roll-out with 2018 Summer and Fall assortments including button-down shirts, knit tops, denim and jackets. Working alongside his longtime stylist Annie Psaltiras, the two created a line customized to reflect Bentley’s own personal style. Desert Son is now available at retailers including Buckle, Von Maur and Dillard’s and online at flagandanthem.com.

"This has been such a fun thing to create and develop. I love clothes that are perfectly worn-in like you’ve had them a lifetime, but can also take the wear and tear that comes from an active lifestyle,” explained Bentley. "I’ve learned over the last few months that there’s a real art to getting that just right. The Flag & Anthem guys have been doing it at the highest level and have helped me put together a collection that I think is totally authentic to me and one that hopefully people all over the country will dig too.”
