Today, the Nashville-based Americana quintet Birdtalker announced their highly anticipated full-length debut album One which will be released on June 22nd. They also premiered their new single from the project, “Free Like a Broken Heart," a jangly carefree folk-rocker with expansive melodies and stunning harmonies that soars with a bright optimism.
"The way I experience life is that if you experience a sad thing, it's almost by letting yourself dive straight down into it and feel the stuff that those things don't have a hold on you anymore," described Dani of the new single. "If you ever want to move past the sadness, you have to let it be there for a little while. And then once you allow it to move through you, your heart is still broken, but there's this beauty in knowing that new growth will happen soon."

![]() Somewhere between an EP and an album, Paul Cauthen's new seven-track collection, 'Have Mercy,' out June 22 via Lightning Rod Records, is a stunning showcase of the pure power of truth and love. Building off the success of the troubadour's breakout debut 'My Gospel,' which found itself on a slew of year-end lists, 'Have Mercy' pushes Cauthen's songwriting to new heights as he searches for common ground and peace of mind in an increasingly polarized world. "I'm a singer not a preacher, but these songs are my sermon," says Cauthen, who writes with a unique blend of Biblical and modern vernacular, a style he likely picked up from his grandfather, a pastor. "We're ripping each other apart out there, and forgiveness and mercy are what's going to get us through. I want to use my voice the best I can to spread that message while I'm here on this Earth." ![]() LOS ANGELES, Calif. — (Press Release) Omnivore Recordings will release two titles from pianist Vince Guaraldi on July 6, 2018: The Complete Warner Bros.–Seven Arts Recordings (encompassing three Warner Bros.-Seven Arts albums: Oh, Good Grief!, The Eclectic Vince Guaraldi and Alma-Ville), as a two-CD set with four previously unreleased bonus tracks; and the classic Oh, Good Grief! album, on translucent red vinyl. Many people got to know Guaraldi through his 1963 Grammy®-winning song, “Cast Your Fate to the Wind,” or via the group Sounds Orchestral’s Top 10 cover of it two years later. Lee Mendelson heard Guaraldi’s version while working on a Peanuts documentary; he contacted the pianist and asked him to score that project. Although Mendelson wasn’t able to sell that documentary to network television, he and Guaraldi subsequently reunited for what became the first Peanuts television special, A Charlie Brown Christmas. It was a match that made TV and musical history. With songs like “Linus and Lucy” the show was a hit, and for more than five decades not a holiday season has gone by without an airing. So potent and successful was the Peanuts/Guaraldi combination that the jazz pianist went on to score a total of 15 Peanuts television specials, a 1969 documentary and the debut feature film that same year. ![]() Listen to "Beautiful Noise" HERE April 25, 2018 (Press Release) -- Nashville-based singer-songwriter Charlie Smyth has announced his debut solo LP The Way I Feel, which is slated for a July 13 release. Smyth also shared the album's first single "Beautiful Noise" at PopMatters, which praised the track as "rich and vibrant" and a "rollicking world of sound." A veteran of the ’90s Chicago & Seattle punk scenes, Charlie Smyth’s sound has evolved over time, meandering like a tattered feather on the Southern breeze and settling somewhere beneath the ever-widening shadow of modern Americana. Grand, loose and vibrant, the Nashville-based troubadour’s new solo debut, The Way I Feel, is dusted with strings, mariachi horns and wistful blankets of steel guitar, its loose-lugnut drums propelling the whole beautiful jalopy of a record forward as if the wheels could come off at any minute. The record is a breathtaking statement of creative purpose, imbuing its too-often safe and by-the-numbers genre with an undeniable sense of musical adventure. ![]() Country music phenom Cody Johnson will bring his electric live show to NYC for his first headlining performance at Gramercy Theatre on May 10th. Austin singer-songwriter Christina Cavazos was just 16 when she released her first EP, About You. She followed it up a year later with Cold, an alluring collection that drew high praise from the Austin American-Statesman's Peter Blackstock, who called Cavazos “not just a future name to watch, but a captivating singer-songwriter who has already arrived.” This coming May, Cavazos will release her new EP, Mile Marker, an all original, six-song project, produced by Charlie Magnone, that finds Cavazos confidently carving out territory as a young adult who is about to embrace her future.
Today, TDC is thrilled to premiere one of the EP's cuts, "Forever." A stunning, dreamy ballad, "Forever", with it's tender lyricism and enveloping melody, magically transports you to that hopefully romantic place with the "one", where love lives eternal. "So show me the way to fall back in love I know it's gonna happen someday and it won't be no one but us, no one but us Yes, I believe that there is a future and I think I'm gonna spend it by your side" ![]()
Cavazos relays the story behind the song, "I wrote "Forever" in the backseat of my car in the middle of April 2017. It was one of those moments where the melody came to me pretty instantly and there was nowhere else I could go. I had met someone that I was just 100% sure I was going to spend the rest of my life with. In reality, I think I stopped talking to that person maybe about a month after I wrote this song. But that idea of finding something that feels like it could last ‘forever' was the driving force behind this song and a couple other songs on Mile Marker."
Listen to, and share, "Forever" above. Cavazos has performed at some of Texas' most celebrated venues, including Austin’s iconic Cactus Cafe, Antone's and Threadgill’s, and McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston. A live version of Mile Marker’s title track was selected as a KUTX Song of the Day, as was “Over Me,” from Cold. A two-time Old Settler’s Music Festival Youth Talent Competition finalist, Cavazos’ expanding list of accolades and accomplishments also includes a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music’s 2016 summer program in Boston. Along with the release of her EP and graduating from Austin’s School for Performing and Visual Arts, Cavazos heads to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music in fall 2018. Touring the United States and Europe relentlessly to support the release last year, they found themselves at SiriusXM's satellite radio headquarters in New York City in January of 2017 to perform songs from Duende live in the studio for a recorded session on the Outlaw Country channel. They also offered an incendiary cover of the classic Neil Young song "Alabama" which they wryly dedicated to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on air (and received a pile of hate mail for doing so) and delivered a touching version of the Dave Rawlings' (Dave Rawlings Machine/Gillian Welch) ballad "Ruby". ![]() LOS ANGELES (Apr 23, 2018) -- Today Live Nation announced ‘National Concert Week’ will take place April 30 through May 8 with an exclusive $20 all-in ticket offer for fans to celebrate the kickoff to its biggest summer season.
