His quadruple-threat reputation as a singer, guitarist, songwriter, and performer is unrivaled there, as recognized by the New England Music Awards for Album of the Year, Male Performer of the Year, and Live Act of The Year. Since his first album, Fall Your Way, dropped in 2015, he’s been called to open for Will Hoge, Blues Traveler, Lee DeWyze, and The Marshall Tucker Band, among others, with outlets like No Depression praising his “vivid storytelling.” His latest outing What’s His Name? (available now) is a tour de force of passion, candor and craft mixing rugged Americana, deep blues, and gut-wrenching soul (along with the occasional conga) to create a potent new brew. “I wrote most of these songs as I was traveling from gig to gig, in parts of the country I’d never seen before. What I experienced helped feed different elements into my music. I had the honor and pleasure of touring with great songwriters like Zach Myers, who exposed me to a lot of new ideas and approaches to the art of the song. I wrote specifically with the idea of making each song more memorable.” Today, TDC is proud to premiere the video for "Drop Your Gun," a gritty roots rocker led by Viele's gravelly vocals, fuzzy electric guitars, and a driving drumbeat that tells the hopeful story of two lovers who want to be together despite outside forces keeping them apart. Viele relays the story behind the song, "I made this song the opening track of the new album because I really dug how it came together in the studio. Lyrically it's a hopeful love song with an edge that is defined by a narrative documenting the internal battle between two people that want to be together but the stress and frustrations of the outside world keep pulling them apart. Using a lyric like "drop your gun" to drive home the darker side of those emotions also caused me to really look at the sonic nuances of the recording to make sure it was conveying the idea appropriately. So we used a dirty fuzz guitar track on the main hook, but set it slightly behind a B3 organ track to create the feel of a darker sound but set slightly behind what is at times a softer more emotive vocal. For the video, we filmed it at my favorite local BBQ joint in Connecticut, Bull & Swine. The spot is just outside of the center of New Haven and has a vibe that is somewhere in between a downtown hot spot and an off the beaten path hangout. I felt that was a perfect place for the female character in this song to be working as she's definitely a "girl next door" type that is slightly out of her element in an attempt to make a living. Oh and getting to eat great BBQ in between the takes was certainly a perk!"

(May 8, 2018 Press Release) – 50 year Grand Ole Opry veteran Jeannie Seely is a Grammy winner, country hit-maker and award-winning songwriter. During her hosting segment on the Grand Ole Opry Friday night, she was presented with an award recognizing her song “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)” for reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Top TV Songs Chart in January of this year. Written in 1964 by Seely with Judith Arbuckle, Pat Sheeran and Randy Newman and originally a pop and R&B hit for Irma Thomas, the song has seen much renewed popularity. It has been used in several TV shows including "Big Little Lies," "Orphan Black," "NFL GameDay Morning," “Here And Now” (on HBO), and multiple episodes of "Black Mirror," it has been used in movie trailers for "Moonlight" and "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," and it has been recorded by artists like Seal, Boyz II Men, Jessica Brown-Findlay, Samantha Whates - and Jeannie Seely herself (for her latest CD Written In Song). “It is absolutely amazing to me the way this song just keeps showing up in different genres and uses. One of the reasons, I believe, is the haunting melody, and the other is the vulnerability of the lyrics,” said Jeannie Seely. “Whatever the reason, I’m sure glad that it does, and I’m very grateful to all who have recorded it.” ![]() May 7, 2018 (Press Release) -- NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Adam Wright has written thousands of songs by now – some for country music’s reigning legends, including Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and Lee Ann Womack; some for he and his wife’s duo, The Wrights; and then there are others that he’s written for himself. Releasing June 22, Dust compiles 11 of those songs. The album pleads with listeners to take time and think about what they are listening to – for those who do, it provides an in-depth look at carefully crafted songwriting; the kind where each detail is placed with precision and honed with a fine-toothed comb. The first single, "From My Bough," with Womack's background vocals, appeared on Rolling Stone Country's 10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week on Friday. The 11 songs on Dust have many layers and encompass everything from death to broken dreams to complicated Southern roots. The album often examines the darker parts of life, but there are still glimmers of hope shining throughout. Interwoven between the two are songs that tackle various aspects of the human condition – inspired by his toddler or a man he met in a bar, or even two imaginary young women navigating different facets of life. The songs are not personal; instead, he entered the minds of his characters and wrote from their perspectives, as these imaginary people navigate dramatic situations. ![]() (Nashville, Tenn. – May 8, 2018 Press Release) – The 2018 lineup has been announced for the highly anticipated FREE summer music festival, Nashville Meets London, set for July 28 - 29 in Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf, London. Originally from Oklahoma, but now calling Denver home, Kelly Augustine is an Americana-folk singer-songwriter who was recently chosen as a 2018 Kerrville New Folk Finalist as well as a 2018 Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest Finalist (Wildflower Arts & Music Festival) for her original material.
Now the singer-songwriter is preparing to release her debut full-length, Light in the Lowlands, which was recorded in Oklahoma with Grammy-nominated producer Wes Sharon (John Fullbright, the Turnpike Troubadours). Of her decision to record in Oklahoma, Kelly says, “I haven’t lived there in years, but the music that has been inspiring me most over the last few years is all coming out of there. It was an honor and a dream come true to make this record there and be able to work with Wes Sharon and musicians like the legendary Byron Berline on fiddle and mandolin and Gabriel Pearson (Turnpike Troubadours) on drums and percussion.” Today, TDC is incredibly honored to premiere the first song from Kelly's upcoming project, "Hurt Too Big." Led by crystal clear, gentle finger-picking and Kelly's ethereal, sorrowful vocals the stunningly impactful "Hurt Too Big" relays the haunting story of a soldier's despair and lost innocence. "A shiny black Mercedes driving full speed Another swig of cheap alcoholic’s gin This time the bullet is his conscience This time he’s willing it to end He knows what he did full well the day that cradle fell" ![]() This September, Elise Davis returns with her sophomore album Cactus, the follow up to her 2016 critically-acclaimed debut The Token. This weekend, Davis kicks off a short tour with Dwight Yoakam that will make stops in Indiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma. "On my new record Cactus there is a heavy theme of feeling like a lone wolf, independent, and sexually liberated," explains Davis. "'Don't Bring Me Flowers' ties into that theme being a song simply about the desire to be involved with someone but keep it light, casual, and sexy." (Watch the video HERE) For Cactus, Davis tapped producer Jordan Lehning (Caitlin Rose, Andrew Combs, Birdcloud's Jasmin Kaset) to helm her most personal work to date. The two worked together for six months straight, holed up in Lehning's home studio, looking to albums like Tom Petty's Wildflowers and Aimee Mann's Mental Illness for inspiration. Davis' melodies remain at the forefront of every mix, her voice honest and unflinching, stripped free of the reverb that had swirled its way throughout The Token. "Cacti are independent plants that sustain themselves," explains Davis about the new album. "They can be beautiful with bright-colored flowers on them, but if you touch them, they will hurt you. I see a lot of parallels with the way I have felt most of my life. It felt like the perfect album title for these songs."
