Thirty-five rare guitars that represent the early history of the instrument in America are on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Drawn from the Museum’s own holdings as well as private collections and the Martin Guitar Museum in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Early American Guitars: The Instruments of C. F. Martin will trace the birth of the American guitar by shedding light on the contributions of Christian Frederick Martin, a German immigrant who invented a uniquely American form of the guitar. The exhibition will highlight the largest collection of instruments by this renowned maker ever to be displayed publicly. It will include the earliest known guitar signed by Martin, the earliest established guitar with his X-braced construction, and several extraordinary decorated examples of his work. The exhibit runs until December 7, 2014. For more information visit here. Who has your votes for the 2014 ACM New Artist of the Year? Voting begins today. We got to know the music of The Cadillac Three when they were known as The Cadillac Black and opened for Dierks Bentley on numerous dates back in 2012. From the minute they came onto the stage (we first saw them in Virginia), we were sold. They have a dynamic energy, unique sound and electric presence. Last year, they signed with BMLG and this year they are touring Europe with Eric Church and then supporting Jake Owen on his Days of Gold Tour (the song which was written by Jaren Johnston & Neil Mason of the TC3) in the US. For more information visit here. You can watch the video for their new single "The South" featuring Dierks, Mike Eli and FGL, below. February is going to be a great month for new music releases. There's Dierks and Eric Church, Eric Paslay and Frankie Ballard, to name a few, but one artist whose name you may or may not know is also releasing his self titled sophomore album in February: Levi Lowrey. We first heard his music when he opened for ZBB a few years ago. His songs are honest storytelling, many about things that he has experienced first hand. His musical sound is unique mix of country, folk and outlaw country sung by a warm voice. He also co-wrote songs you know by the ZBB including "Colder Weather" and "The Wind." Be sure to give him a listen and pick up the new album. "Levi Lowrey" will be released on February 25th. For more information visit his website. We have told you about a band we love, Whiskey Myers, before. They are coming to NYC to play at Rockwood Music Hall on Tuesday January 28th. Their new album, Early Morning Shakes, will be released February 4th, so you can expect to hear new material as well as old favorites, like "Anna Marie," which you can watch below. You can get tickets to the show here. The storyline is not what this EC fan imagined, but I am really liking the video. It's surprising and creative--exactly what is to be expected from Eric. There's a nod to "The Outsiders" in the introduction as well as "Drink In My Hand" during the karaoke scene. And a Von Dutch-less and sometimes aviator-less Eric. What do you think of the video for "Give Me Back My Hometown?" We are loving "Take The Keys" by newcomer Leah Turner. The California native co-wrote the song with Jesse Frasure and Cary Barlowe. It's an up tempo country song delivered by her unique and powerful vocals. Take a look and listen! We are so thankful for everyone who "likes" our page on FB and follows us on Twitter. We reached over 1000 followers on Twitter so we thought we would give away a prize pak. Over the next 3 days, if you visit here, and leave a comment as to which artist you are most looking forward to seeing live in 2014. We will randomly draw a name to win a cds and a koozie. Anyone who has already left a comment will be automatically entered. Again, we appreciate everyone more than ya know :) |
