On August 11th, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Suzanne Santo will release her solo debut album Ruby Red. Best known as one-half of the Americana duo HONEYHONEY, Santo steps out on her own for the first time on the Butch Walker produced project. An album about love, life, and lust in the modern world, Ruby Red is a melody-driven offering that ranges from Southern-gothic anthems to ballads to explosive rockers. In our continuing series highlighting City Winery NYC's Cellar Sessions, watch as Santo performs a few tracks from the upcoming release. Watch "Best Out Of Me" below and see the full Session HERE. On it, the husband and wife duo of Lauren Staley & Jason Morrow, and their bandmates, have built on the sounds of their previous albums - incorporating deep country, Americana, honky-tonk, bluegrass, and rock ’n’ roll on twelve tracks that deal with the themes of the road and chasing dreams. Dead Ringer has more guitars, more attitude, and more edge than what the band has done before, but it's not such a massive departure in sound that fans won't understand it. “We are not a different band,” Lauren explains, “but we've definitely grown up and are changed people from the time we started this band. I think we're better musicians, better songwriters. We've learned lessons and we've worked hard, and we want to tell our current fans and new fans the stories of what we've experienced on this journey. Musically, there are still elements of bluegrass and honky-tonk in our sound, and there always will be. However, I think we've expanded the scope of what we can offer people - there's something for everyone on this record.” In our continuing series highlighting City Winery NYC's Cellar Sessions, watch below as the band performs "Dead Ringer" as well as "If You Were An Astronaut." While the evening's performances take place in the restaurant, artists can also be found down in the barrel room where they perform stripped down, intimate versions of their songs for the Winery's Cellar Sessions. Hailing from Wisconsin, Trapper Schoepp writes well-crafted, insightful, detailed, and nuanced story songs that have the ability to draw you in both lyrically and sonically.
